Freelance developers and tech profiles in France

A website to rebuild, a business application to extend, infrastructure to secure or data to put to work: Askfreelance connects you with freelance developers and tech profiles in Lorraine, the Grand Est or remotely, with no commission.

Available profiles

Front-end, back-end and full-stack developers, WordPress and CMS specialists, DevOps and cloud engineers, system and network administrators, cybersecurity consultants, IT project managers. On the data side: data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, BI consultants, automation and AI specialists.

When is a freelancer the right answer?

  • a project with a start and an end: a feature, a migration, a redesign, an audit;
  • a rare skill needed for a few weeks;
  • extra capacity to meet a deadline alongside the team;
  • an outside view: code review, performance or security audit.

For a permanent need built into the team’s daily work, hiring an employee is often more suitable — and simpler legally.

Writing a brief that attracts the right profiles

Context, tech stack, what exists, expected deliverable, deadline, working mode (on site, hybrid, remote), languages, access constraints. Our guide Writing a clear freelance brief offers a full template.

Invoicing and status

A self-employed developer invoices with the mandatory details (Siren number, VAT or exemption wording, etc.); since 1 September 2026, all businesses in France must be able to receive electronic invoices. See Invoicing as a micro-entrepreneur.

Metz, Thionville, Nancy… and Luxembourg

Many tech profiles in Lorraine also work for Luxembourg clients. If your project is for a company in Luxembourg, you can also post on askfreelance.lu.

Before you start: what to check

  • Code and access: repository, test and production environments, cloud accounts; give named access and remove it at the end.
  • Ownership: state in the contract who owns the code and documentation produced.
  • Quality: expected tests, code review, minimum documentation, acceptance criteria.
  • Personal data: if the freelancer has access, put a framework in place (confidentiality, GDPR processor terms).

How it works on Askfreelance

You describe your need in a few minutes. A member of our team reviews every job before publication, then introduces matching profiles; freelancers’ contact details are never published. Contract, price and invoicing are settled directly between you. Askfreelance is free and takes no commission.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a full specification?

No. A few clear lines are enough to start: goal, stack, deadline, working mode.

Can freelancers work remotely?

Yes, if you accept it. Say so in the job post, along with any on-site days.

Does Askfreelance test technical skills?

Our team reviews every profile before publication; we do not run technical tests. Plan a technical conversation before starting.

Can we start with a small test assignment?

Yes. Many companies begin with an audit or a limited feature before a larger project. Describe it as a job in its own right, with its own deliverable.

Who manages the project day to day?

You do, or a person you appoint: the freelancer organises their own work, but someone on your side should set priorities and approve deliveries.
